Mrs. Talarico’s Social Studies Expectations
Mrs. Talarico’s Social Studies Expectations
I am happy you are in my history class and look forward to a wonderful year!
1. Supplies: Students must bring their notebook, workbook, and textbook to class each day. Graded work must be written in blue or black ink, or pencil. A red pen is required.
2. Forgotten supplies: Students will not be allowed to return to lockers for forgotten materials, homework, etc. A conduct mark will be issued for being unprepared for class.
3. Behavior: My classroom will be a safe place for all students.
4. Study guides: Study guides will be distributed at the beginning of each chapter. We will not go over the answers in class because in my experience, many students will not complete the study guide and use the review of the study guide as their only preparation for the test. Students have ample time before the test to complete the study guide and may ask me for help on any questions. Waiting until the night before the test to complete the study is ineffective and does not allow students to ask me about the answers. We will play a review game the day before the test unless unforeseen circumstances arise.
5. Make-up work: Students are responsible for checking this site – lindsaytalarico.edublogs.com
and/or the make-up book in class and asking me for the materials needed. Notes can be obtained from this site. Tests and quizzes cannot be made up during class. Students must arrange with me to come in early or stay late to make-up tests and quizzes. Students have 5 days from their return to complete (or make arrangements to complete) all make up work. I will not remind you about make-up work – high school is just around the corner!
7. Homework: Homework is all or nothing and will not be accepted late. “I couldn’t find the answer” is unacceptable.
8. Grading policy: Tests: 40%, Labs/Quizzes: 30%, Classwork: 20%, Homework: 10%
