Science, Week of 1/26

Homework for Week:  Work on Ch. 17 workbook pages and study guides.

Monday:  Test Ch. 16.  Groups work on Final Exploravision project.  Due tomorrow – test grade.

Tuesday:  Begin Ch. 17:  Newton’s Beads Demo.  Students write observations in notebooks.  Gravity, and motion, terminal velocity.  Computer animations.

Wednesday:  Graphing Motion Lab.

Thursday:  Free fall and projectile motion.  Quicklab:  Projectile motion in notebooks.

Friday:  Force, Mass, Acceleration Lab.

Social Studies, Week of 1/26

Homework for week:

1.  Ch. 9 Study Guide due and Ch. 9 Test on Friday.

2.  Study Island Economics quizzes must be completed 1/30.  studyisland.org

Monday:  Read American Arts at the bottom of p308 – p. 311 and answer Analyzing Information question p. 311.  Quiz 9-2:  Nationalism and Sectionalism. Read Erie Canal and answer questions.   Begin teaching 9-3 – American Culture.

Tuesday:  Finish 9-3.  Groups make graphic organizers about American visual art,  songs, literature, education.  If absent, do Graphic organizer on page 311 #5.

Wednesday:  Pep Ralley

Thursday:  Quiz on Section 9-3.  Read excerpts from American Writers and discuss.  TCAP practice.  Review for test tomorrow.

Friday:  Test Ch. 9.  Start reading Ch. 10.

Social Studies Week of 1/20

Study Island quizzes on Economics must be completed by 1/30. Students can do some at home by going to studyisland.com. They have thier usernames and passwords. They can do game or test mode.

Tuesday: Inauguration activities/discussion. Ch. 8 Tests returned and discussed. Ch. 9 Study guides distributed. TCAP practice p. 293. Timeline activity p. 294/5.

Wednesday: Discuss p. 293-295. Instruction on America’sforeign policy, Section 9-1. Groups make graphic organizers of Nations, Agreement/Doctrine, Issue and Effects (p.301 #4). Carousel Activity. Response system practice quiz on Sec. 1 tomorrow.

Thursday: 9-1 quiz using cps response system. Nationalism & Sectionalism. Anticipation guide followed by instruction. Change anticipation guide answers if needed.

Friday: Erie Canal p. 306-307. Cumberland Road Map Activity. Quiz on 9-2 Monday. Study Island questions on computers.

Test on Ch. 16:  Monday 1/26

Exploravision Final Project due:  Tuesday 1/17

Tuesday: Acceleration, Forces, and Friction. Guided practice calculating acceleration. Ch. 16 Test Monday 1/26.  Exploravision Rough Draft due tomorrow.

Wednesday: Graphing Motion lab using motion detectors.

Thursday: Friction lab using ramps, wooden cars, sails, and photogates.

Friday: Finish notes on Ch. 16. Work on Exploravision Final Project.

Monday:  Thinklink Test B.  Checked Ch. 16 workbook pages and Study Guides.

Tuesday:  Work on Exploravision project.  Checklists, requirements additional information distributed.  Rough drafts due on 1/21 – quiz grade.  Final project including 5 web page graphics due 1/26 – test grade. Exploravision.org for more info.

Wednesday:  Frame of motion and calculating speed and velocity. Domino Lab. Practice calculating average speed.  Graded worksheet tomorrow.

Thursday:  Graded worksheet on Calculating Speed.  Graphing speed using motion detectors and laptops.

Friday:  Exploravision work on computers.

Ch. 8 Study Guide due and Test Friday 1/16

Monday:   Quiz Section 8-1.  Sec. 8-2:  Louisiana Purchase. Lewis and Clark and Pike’s expeditions. Interactive map activities Classzone.com. Quiz 8-2 tomorrow.

Tuesday:  Quiz Sec. 8-2.  Notes 8-3:  Coming of war.  Causes of War of 1812.  Embargo and Non-Intercourse Acts. Conflicts in the West. Homework:  P.283 1-4.  Quiz Section 8-3 tomorrow.

Wednesday:  Review & check homework p. 283.  Quiz Sec. 8-3.  Notes on War of 1812.  Groups make graphic organizers of major battles and details and share with class.  Quiz tomorrow on Section 8-4.

Thursday:  Quiz 8-4.  Review for Test tomorrow.  Study guides and tests due tomorrow.

Friday:  Test Chapter 8.  Study Island Review of Economics objectives on computers.  Start reading Ch. 9.

Social Studies Week of 1/5

Monday: Review ch. 7. Begin Ch. 8-1. Pass out Ch. 8 Study guides.

Tuesday: TCAP coach book – read p. 35 – 46.  Questions p. 39, 43, 47-50 on own paper. If finished doo Section reviews ch. 9.

Wednesday: Pike’s Expedition Map Activity – graded.

Thursday: Biography Packet – answers on own paper.

Friday: Finish notes and Quiz on 8-1.

Science Week of 1/5/09
