Exploravision Project

The project will be a test grade.  Formative assignments will be daily/quiz grades.  Please see Exploravision.org

for project details.  Students will work in groups of 2-4.

12/19:  Project idea due for approval by Mrs. T.

1/9:  Past and present technology rough drafts due.

1/16:  Future technology rough draft due.

1/23:  Consequences, bibliography, and abstract due

1/27: Final corrected project and 5 mock up webpages due for test grade and Mrs. T to send in to Exploravision.

Social Studies Week of 12/15

Monday:  No class due to inclement weather.

Tuesday:  National Debt graphing activity.  Begin Geography Bee.  Study Guide and Ch. 7 Test tomorrow.  Students needing help can come in at 7:30 a.m.  Students not completing study guides will not get to play the review games before the test tomorrow!

Wednesday:  Review games before test.  Take Ch. 7 Test.

Thursday:  Finish Geography Bee.  Study Island Review Activities.

Friday:  Study Island Activity.

Science Week of 12/15

Monday:  Vocabulary Worksheet and bonus puzzler worksheet.  Check Workbook pages for Ch. 11.

Tuesday:  Check Study Guides for Ch. 11 – Test Ch. 11.  Gave information for Exploravision projects (see page on Exploravision or Exploravision.org for more info).  Ch. 16 is next.  Homework:  Brainstorm with family and friends about a societal problems that could be solved with a new technological innovation within the next 20 years.  Bring ideas to class.

Wednesday:  Exploravision packets distributed and groups formed.  Brainstorm ideas for problems to solve with  a new technology.  Final Problem due Friday 12/19.

Thursday:  Groups brainstorm problems and get teacher approval.  Begin research and Ch. 16 workbook pages when complete.

Friday:  Begin working on past technology research section for Exploravision project.

Monday:  Plate Tectonics – Earth’s Structure and Interior

Tuesday:  Plate Tectonics Inquiry Activity

Wednesday:  Plate Tetonics Webquest – if absent this can be done at home. Evidence for Pangea and Continental Drift

Thursday:  Causes for plate tectonics and types of plate boundaries and deformations.  Graded Worksheet on Earth’s structure and types of plate boundaries.

Friday:  Types of faults and mountain building.

Homework for week:  Ch. 7 workbook pages due Mon. 12/15, Ch. 7 Study Guide and Test Tuesday, 12/16

Social Studies Week of 12/8

Monday:  Sec. 7-1 How and Why Washington was elected.  Setting up the government.  Ch. 7 Study Guides distributed.

Tuesday:  Hamilton and National Finances 7-2.  Conflicts/differences Hamilton and Jefferson.  Quiz Section 1 & 2 tomorrow.

Wednesday:  Quiz 7-1/2.  National Debt Activity.

Thursday:  7-3 Challenges for a New Nation part 1.  New National Capital Map Activity.

Friday:  7-3 Challenges for a New Nation part 2.  Quiz on Section 3 Monday.

Homework for Week:  Ch.7 study guide and test due Wednesday 12/17.  TN Constitution Workbook due 12/15 – counts as optional test grade.

Science Week of 12/1

Monday:  Check Ch. 9 workbook pages.  Finish Alternative Energy Presentations. Ch. 9 Study guide and test tomorrow – Presentations Wednesday.

Tuesday:  Check study guides.  Test Ch. 9.  When finished begin Ch. 11 workbook pages and study guides.  Presentations tomorrow.

Wednesday:  Alternative Energy Presentations due.

Thursday:  Begin Ch. 11 – Plate Tectonics.  Continue working on Ch. 11 study guides and workbook pages.

Friday:  Lab – Comparing combustion by-products of ethanol and kerosene.

Social Studies, Week of 12/1

Monday:  Finish section 6-3.  Section review questions p. 225. Begin citizenship poemCh. 6 Study guide and test due Wednesday. Students have until Wednesday to recite the preamble for 10 points added to the test grade.

Tuesday:  Citizenship poems.  Review for test.  Study guide and Ch. 6 Test tomorrow.

Wednesday:  Test Ch. 6.  Begin reading Ch. 7 or working on TN Constitution Workbooks – due Friday.

Thursday:  Work on TN Constitution Workbooks – due tomorrow.

Friday:  Read and discuss/check answers in TN Consitution workbooks – turn in for a TEST grade.
